Having lived in Europe during a World Cup, I can attest to the excitement, especially with the Netherlands team advancing as far as it did! But FIFA and the World Cup are not immune to the temptation of money.
My daughters played voetbal and loved it. My size (and lack of coordination) was probably more suited to football.
My only excuse...It's in my DNA since my earliest recollection of growing up in Minnesota meant that two events were exclusively reserved for fall Saturdays....One being pheasant hunting and the other. University Gopher football on WCCO radio. Methinks it an inherited addiction. Marion Robbins
What about the sport where the ball actually gets (mostly) played with the player’s foot? We call it voetbal or football… might that be a good replacement for your previous love “Hand-egg”?
Thank you writing this article. I am on your side. Football has become too much about money. I wonder what it would be like if we could shift some of this sports mania to toward increasing choral and instrumental music in our schools.
