I enjoyed reading your post. As someone who lived abroad in my 30s, I admire your adventuresome spirit to take on this task, and I am jealous! The congregation is lucky to have your wit, experience and pastoral care. Hope you can liberate your bike soon. And as someone else said, it would be great to have your family visit you there!
I'm sorry we didn't overlap in Zürich! (You were there at least 20 years before me.) So far the congregation here seems glad to have me. Maybe there were no other candidates. Still, glad to be here.
Thanks Doug for sharing your adventures and thank you particularly for the photos. I believe this post has more than your usual posts. Please continue to take the time to post. Many of us are enjoying reading your experiences. Bummer about having to leave family behind. Perhaps some of them can join you in that large house eventually.
Thanks for writing, David. As you can imagine, there's a lot to absorb and process when coming to a new church. Add the change in continents and cultures, and it can be overwhelming. I'll do my best to write - and post photos! I'm glad you're a reader.
Thanks for your first Dutch report
Sounds great! A thriving church in the Netherlands has to be a special blessing as well.
A surprising number of thriving churches here - and throughout Europe!
