Dear pastor Doug! How do you feel now? So sorry to hear about the stone. But hope everything will be alright. You are a strong man! You are always invited and welcomed to APCH. Please come and preach 🙏 Congratulations on the book! Take care! We miss you! Much love! Alla
Thanks for your contributions to the dialogue in the Sentinel - I have loved reading your thoughts. I too am bummed about the current direction of things with the local paper - what can be done about it? Wishing you all the best with the stone and book and the walk!
Your kind words are very much appreciated! I'm not sure what Gannett's overall intentions are - that is, if they actually have a plan - so it's hard to know how to respond. I think they killed their golden goose.
Speaking of Sarah, she will be a guest of Still Processing (https://stillprocessing.org/) on July 11 at the Brew Merchant at 7 p.m.. Better arrive early if you would like to get a seat!
Ouch! about the stone! — been there, done that — giving birth is no fun at all, especially if the babe won’t come on it’s own! 🥴 And congrats on the book and the hiking plans! It sounds like you’re doing better than newspapers these days — may the years ahead continue to be blessed for you!
The stone is so big that it doesn't move. Therefore not much pain. I passed a stone 12 years ago and know about the comparisons to childbirth. The difficult part this time was the UTI which nearly did me in. I'll keep details at that!
Just wanted to add that the previous owner of Geri's cottage was a pastor from NY. He used to call the Sentinel the NussBlott (sp?)...the Nose Bleed. He'd say it had important stories such as " Joe Blow stubbed his toe at the corner of Central and 8th St." I was offended at the time. Now, I find it humorous...
Congratulations on your new direction, Doug. I myself have changed careers at least 4 times in my life, and find new challenges , such as the ones you are undertaking, are instrumental to living a good life and furthering my learning and education. Come visit us in Switzerland again, and the Men's Breakfast guys will take you on a hike somewhere beautiful.
So sorry I had to leave the writers retreat a bit early yesterday, but sitting in a dining room chair for eight hours turned out to be, well, not such a good thing for me. Who knew?
Doug, I'm so sorry to hear about your stone! Hope it gets decimated and sent packing!!! I enjoy your writing. Congratulations on the book! Take good care... Dawn Vollink
Hooray on another contract, that's fabulous news, Doug!
Dear Pastor Doug,
Wow, that’s great that you make miles walking but be careful for your knees.
Kathy and I often talk about our nice time together with you, we miss you.
All the best to you and Susan.
Thanks, Rein. I miss you and APCH friends too!

Praying for the passing (of the stone) and promoting (of the book) :)
