Interesting take on this. Could the over-policing of the schools have come about due to teachers and administrators over-reaching on what rights they might think they have? I had a high school football coach who prayed with us before each game, but he was also abusive toward some players who could not meet his standards, and he wasn't really a role model for me. So, it is conflicting. I like the separation between church and state, and I think it is healthy for our country. The perpetuation of slavery, which to me violates all rules of equality, justice and decency was not slowed much by many religious leaders. But I agree, the best way forward is for public debate about it. Would many of today's 'Christians' object to a Jewish or Muslim coach leading a prayer at the 50 yard line?

As long as it would be truly voluntary, no reprisals, I think it would be a healthy thing. BTW, I remember that brick wall. I still have my photo, #73, in some photo album from way back!
